Cikgu Sam (Sheikh Shamsuddin)

   Cikgu Sam is the founder and head of United States Gayong Federation (USGF). He is ranked Benkong Hitam 6 (6th degree black belt) and holds the title of Ketua Kalifah (chief of Caliph). He is the author of the book, The Malay Art of Self Defense: Silat Seni Gayong, the only English language book on the subject. He has given numerous seminars and demonstrations throughout the United States and Malaysia. He has consulted for History Channel's Human Weapon: Silat episode and was featured in National Geographic Asia's award winning Fight Masters: Silat program.


Joel Champ

   Joel Champ is a senior instructor for USGF. He is ranked Benkong Hitam 4 (4th degree black belt) and holds the title of Kalifa Muda (young Caliph) given by Dato’s daughter, the late Cikgu Siti Kalsom in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. He has given numerous seminars and demonstrations throughout the United States and has written various articles on Silat that have appeared in Blackbelt magazine and Seni Beladiri magazine. He has traveled to Malaysia for additional training in Silat Seni Gayong and learned from other instructors including Cikgu Majid, Cikgu Kahar, Cikgu Jazwan, Cikgu Siti Kalsom, and Cikgu Mat. He is the adopted son of the late Siti Kalsom. Joel was the featured main character in National Geographic Asia's award winning Fight Masters: Silat program.


Jen Para

   Jen Para is a senior instructor for USGF. She is ranked Benkong Hitam 3 (3rd degree black belt) and holds the title of Sri Kandi (woman warrior) given by Dato’s son, Cikgu Sazali in Taiping, Perak, Malaysia. She has written several articles for various magazines and has been featured on the cover of Seni Beladiri magazine in Malaysia -- May 2006 and Sept. 2010. She has given numerous seminars and demonstrations in the United States and Malaysia. She has traveled to Malaysia for additional training in Silat Seni Gayong and learned from other instructors including Cikgu Kahar, Cikgu Jazwan, Cikgu Siti Kalsom, Cikgu Mat, Cikgu Rasol and Cikgu Malik. She is the adopted daughter of the late Siti Kalsom. Daniel Snyder and Neel Tummala

   Daniel Snyder (ranked Benkong Hitam 1) and Neel Tummala have also traveled to Malaysia and trained Gayong under the guidance of Cikgu Kahar Redza, Cikgu Jazwan, Cikgu Rasol and Cikgu Malik. Daniel is the adopted son of the late Cikgu Siti Kalsom Meor Rahman and Neel Tummala is an adopted brother of the late Cikgu Siti Kalsom.
